The maker behind FECIT
Wielan
du Plessis
Furniture maker, designer and woodworker based in Cape Town, South Africa.

About me
Rooted in craftsmanship, guided by curiosity.
I design and build high-end sculptural furniture and objects that merge function with form, and tradition with play. Each piece is handmade using carefully selected woods and a deep respect for material integrity, clean geometry and subtle detail.
My work is guided by the belief that good design is felt as much as it is seen or used—a bench that draws your hand, a table that settles the room, a chair that holds you.
The name
Fecit
Latin: “made it”
Traditionally written beside a maker’s name, fecit is a simple declaration of authorship.
Here, it means exactly that: a real person working in a real Cape Town workshop, designing and making every piece with care. The furniture carries the decisions, skill and touch of the person who made it.
